An exciting afternoon of rugby saw our squad take on Penkridge in a high-paced friendly, with both sides determined to play expansive rugby. The match delivered exactly that, with end-to-end action and plenty of tries to keep the crowd entertained.
From the outset, both teams showed attacking intent. Penkridge looked sharp with ball in hand, testing our defence early, but it wasn’t long before our forwards set the platform and the backs began to find space out wide. A flurry of tries came in the first half, showcasing some excellent support play and quick handling from the whole squad.
The second half continued in the same spirit, with both teams trading scores. Penkridge refused to back down, but our team’s energy and creativity in attack proved decisive. Several players crossed the whitewash, but just as impressive was the collective defensive effort to keep Penkridge at bay during some sustained pressure.
The performance of the day came from Chris Gibbs, whose work rate, tackling, and attacking flair earned him a well-deserved Man of the Match award.
